Image: Banded Shrimp, scuba diving Koh Tao's Southwest Pinnacle After completing their PADI open water course, newly 'hooked' scuba divers Betsy and Stacy began their PADI Advanced open water course. It was a chance for them to get their buoyancy perfect and explore to 30m on the deep dive, where we came across this beautiful banded shrimp! The guys have been fun diving everyday since! Today we just got back from scuba diving Koh Tao's South-west Pinnacle and the Shark Island dive site to the south of Koh Tao - two of our best sites. The weather is scorching at the moment, in the mid 30s and very little wind so perfect Koh Tao diving conditions. We're looking ahead to the July full moon party on the 9th - the July event is always one of the busiest on the calendar and as always will be followed by thousands of folk making their way across to Koh Tao to check out the scuba diving. If you are headed this way, do make advanced arrangements and sort out your diving and accommodation prior to traveling to the island - you'll save yourself a lot of hassle as Sairee beach accommodation is sure to be in high demand. |

After a successful trip back to the UK to see some friends and family members, Matt and Sam headed for Australia to continue working as PADI Instructors in Cairns, Queensland. On June 17th Matt and Sam returned to Simple Life Divers Koh Tao to the traditional barrage of lunch time beers and stories from the previous year.
Image: Matt & Sam (with her new puppies) It was great for them to finally see the new Simple Life resort and to hear of the new booking office in Koh Phangan. Both Matt & Sam are looking forward to getting back into the water and teaching some new PADI Open Water students, as well as working with some of Simple Life's new Divemaster Trainees. |

Underwater Image: Scorpion fish, scuba diving Koh Tao Today saw the Simple Life Divers boat off bright and early in the morning to Mango bay to see the school of fusiliers and a seahorse. Then off to explore the wreck Japanese gardens. In the afternoon we set off to double dive Koh Tao's famous Chumphon Pinnacle. Visibility was good at close to 30 metres. Water temperature at 40 metres 29 C, so it’s still rash vest weather! On the second dive we explored the north eastern tip of the dive site. Soft corals and tiny baby barracuda schooling around the base of a small granite pinnacle, at about 30m, circling up and around to above the thermocline, where the visibility greatly increased and we were greeted by a school of chevron barracuda, definitely the highlight of the dive. Tomorrow we’re off in the afternoon trip at 12 to the South-west Pinnacles and Shark Island I’ll be sure to attend. |
