Brothers from Canada Nathan and Trevor have just completed their PADI Open Water Course here at Simple Life Divers, with a lot of laughs along the way!
Over the past few days, the guys have learned about safe diving practices, how to plan dives, and how a set of scuba gear works. We also spent time practicing scuba diving skills in shallow water, building up the guys’ confidence breathing from a scuba unit underwater, and teaching them how to control themselves underwater, maneuvering around by using breathing control and fining techniques.

Then as everyone’s favorite part of the PADI Open Water Koh Tao course, Nathan and Trevor got to put their newly learned scuba diving theory and skills into practice with four open water dives exploring the Koh Tao dive sites. Our first two dives allowed us to explore some of Koh Tao’s shallow pinnacles and coral reefs down to a maximum depth of 12M, where we practiced some skills again to further build up their confidence, and check out some tropical marine life.
Finally, our last two dives allowed us to explore right down to the PADI Open Water course maximum depth of 18M, where we got to see groupers, white eyed moral eels, blue spotted sting rays, wrasses and more.
Both Nathan and Trevor have turned out as competent open water divers and it’s been a pleasure to teach them – I hope you guys continue to enjoy scuba diving and exploring in the future, and maybe we’ll see you back on Koh Tao for the next step….. 😉
