With a relatively new ship-wreck like our HTMS Sattakut off Koh Tao, there are constantly new fish arriving to find a home within the sunken ship. Most of these fish are common around other Koh Tao diving sites, but on Thursday morning while exploring the underside of the stern at a depth of around 28 meters we found a creature we hadn’t previously encountered.
A beautiful unidentified Flatworm less them 1cm long was swimming towards the wreck. I was able to get one underwater shot of it swimming before it firmly curled up against the structure of the ship where I took a few more shots. We love finding the small and amazing ‘macro’ life around the island and this has definitely been the diving highlight of my week.
I have looked at various Koh Tao fish guides and scoured Google but cannot see any record of this Flatworm in Koh Tao.
I will keep on searching, but if anyone knows the name of the species – feel free to comment below!
