Having recently come back from England for the Christmas period I love to have a good chat with travelers on the boat to the island swapping stories and hearing about other people’s great experiences traveling around Asia.
I began talking to two great guys and subsequently found out that they might be interested in doing their Advanced Open Water Course with me. The following day I had them both in the shop ready and excited to get down underwater with me.
We started up with course with the afternoon boat to Buddha Point and then Junkyard for our Peak Performance Buoyancy and Navigational Dive with the boys not only excellent divers but also very entertaining underwater. We continued on that evening with a night dive off the beach where we managed to see my favorite fish, the Scribbled Filefish, asleep. It was the perfect end to a busy but successful day.
The following morning we did our Deep and Wreck dives at Chumphon Pinnacle and HTMS Sattakut. Chumphon has been really fantastic recently due to it not being dived much during monsoon season for the condition which now has given us more fish on the dive site than I have ever seen before. The Sattakut was on its usual form with my favorite conditions for it being ever so slightly murky adding to the atmosphere and slight foreboding on it.
All in all the entire course was fantastic; the students were great and the diving fabulous. We finished off in the evening with a lovely student dinner at my favorite restaurant Boomerang and a few quiet drinks at the bar.
