Sophie and John from England along with Ryan and Amelia from the United States just completed their PADI Open Water Course here at Simple Life Divers.
After working through a dive course orientation and a bit of scuba diving theory we were ready to get wet with our first underwater session.
With scuba gear donned and checked and assistant Jess in tow we headed out onto the beach and spent the whole afternoon practicing a many underwater skills. The purpose of the underwater exercises was to get the group familiar with the scuba unit and comfortable underwater. After watching a demonstration the gang practiced regulator recovery, mask removal replacement and clearing, alternate air source usage, safe ascents and descents along with tired diver tows, weight belt removal and lots of other cool skills. The guys cruised through the session with ease and were ready for their first of two 12 meter dives.
The following day the team got their equipment packed and we jumped into our taxi with Simple Life’s superstar taxi man Mr. Ek car for a short ride to the pier. We hopped onto our dive boat and made our way to the Twin Pinnacle dive site to the North-West of Koh Tao. The guys were very excited prior to their first proper open water dive, and we had a lot of fun underwater improving buoyancy control and exploring the corals and marine life right down to 12M.
The next day we got out to Koh Tao’s premier dive site – the Chumphon Pinnacle. The visibility was a cool 20 meters and there were schools of different types of fishes every where. WE got to enjoy a couple of cracking dives and the team shaped up to be competent open water divers.
Well done Sophie, John, Amelia and Ryan and hope you continue to enjoy future diving adventures!
