Today we headed out to Chumpon Pinnacle for our first dive of the morning, with with me were three fun divers, Mike (who completed his Open Water and Advanced Open Water with Simple Life and is now fun diving) Mike and Steve (two fun divers who where doing a birthday dive this morning as well as their last dives on Koh Tao.) The weather was great as we headed out to Chumpon Pinnacle and upon arrival we were greeted with crystal clear blue water. As we jumped in for the first dive we were not disappointed the visibility was 25 meters or more! As the dive progressed we were all incredibly impressed by the amount of marine life all around us, we descended straight through a massive school of chevron barracuda then popping out the other side as they swam around us two huge great barracuda glided past one of them nearing on 1.5 meters long! This morning Chumpon really lived up to its name of Koh Tao’s favourite dive site!
For our second dive we headed off to Hin Pee Wee and the HTMS Sattakut. Again we were very impressed with the visibility on both sites (the two sites are close enough to dive both if you choose to) ranging from 15-18 meters depending on which side of the site you were on! The HTMS Sattakut was perfect as there were no other divers on the wreck (aside from the Simple Life crew!) Leaving the wreck I veered off to a secret little patch of sand that is home to one of Koh Tao’s elusive saddle back clown fish (Nemo!) As we neared its anemone Mike pointed over my shoulder to something else in the sand, it was a common eagle ray something which I have only seen once before on my time diving on Koh Tao over the past years! Near the end of the dive we were given one more treat, a group of 6 giant trevally cruised right passed us. All in all it was an excellent morning of diving with a great group of guys!
