Koh Tao Advanced PADI Dive Course | Introduction
The Koh Tao PADI Advanced open water course will take you to the next level! The skills you will learn on this course will enable you to dive deeper, dive in limited visibility, navigate safely, identify Thailand's marine life species and dive longer with perfect buoyancy control.
As part of the Koh Tao PADI advanced course we'll make five more training dives building on your previous dive skills and experience.
This consists two core dives [deep dive and underwater navigation dives] plus three elective dives which you choose. Options include:

The schedule of our Koh Tao PADI Advanced course is flexible, and will depend on which elective dives you choose. Let's take a look at a typical schedule of the PADI Advanced Open Water course with Simple Life:

Day 1: Advanced Course Orientation & Training Dives
First you'll meet your instructor and go through the PADI advanced open water manual, choosing the three elective dives that you which interest you and setting a schedule for the next couple of days. The good news is that unlike the PADI open water course, there is no there is no exam (but you will make a short knowledge review for each dive).
Next, we'll be out on the boat making two dives at two different dive sites in the afternoon, (departing at 12:30 and returning at about 17:00 pm). We will start with the Underwater Navigation dive using depth, contour and coral formations to navigate safely combined with compass navigation to complete some navigation exercises, with you guiding the instructor around the dive site and back to the boat! (Sounds easy?). The second dive of the afternoon will be one of the elective dives.
Assuming you choose the night dive (not to be missed), we'll run it on either the first or second day depending on our schedule. We will meet up at 18:00. Following the dive briefing we'll head out to White Rock so we can enter the water shortly after sun set. The dive will last anywhere from 35 minutes to 45 minutes and we will be back at the resort for around 8pm. Expect to see Great and Chevron barracuda hunting small reef fish, lots of crabs and nocturnal sting rays foraging in the sand for food.
Day 2: Koh Tao PADI Advanced Course - 2 dives
Next for many people's highlight of the Koh Tao PADI course - we'll visit the famous Chumphon Pinnacles dive site north-west of Koh Tao for your deep dive.
Under the close guidance of your instructor you'll descend to a maximum depth of 30 meters, experiencing nitrogen narcosis for the first time. We'll make a couple of tests to appreciate the surrounding 4 atmosphere's of pressure, then explore the site, where you'll get the chance to see the black tip reef sharks, and if you're really lucky, swim with the majestic whale shark. Chumphon is spectacular with many bat fish, giant group, large barracuda and many pink anemone fish and magnificent anemones. Finally we'll make a safe, slow ascent back to the boat, performing a safety stop at 5 metres.
For the second dive we will either stay at Chumphon or head to another site to complete the final elective dive of your advanced PADI course, depending on the Koh Tao diving conditions and which elective dive you chose.

Navigation Dive: Learn more about using a compass and timing device combined with natural navigation techniques to find your way round the dive site.
Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive: Perfect your buoyancy control and improve your air consumption rate, with our buoyancy workshop dive.
Fish ID: Learn to identify the tropical reef species of Koh Tao, Thailand.
Underwater photography: Get you hands on an underwater digital camera, and learn techniques to help you capture that perfect underwater image.
Dive propulsion vehicles: James Bond style dive propulsion vehicle action - save air and see more of the dive site.
Underwater Naturalist: Learn more about marine species, appreciating the symbiotic relationships between aquatic organisms.
Computer and multi level: Learn a more sophisticated approach to dive planning, allowing to extend your bottom time and enjoy longer deep dives - head out and execute your dive plan using a dive computer to monitor your profile.
Search and recovery: Devise and execute a range of search patterns based on varying conditions and size of target, and practice recovering heavy objects by using a lifting device.
During your orientation to the PADI Advanced course, one the experienced western instructors here at Simple Life will have a chat with you about your previous diving experiences, what areas of diving interest you, and help you decide which elective dives will best benefit your diving.
In addition to the mandatory deep and underwater navigation dives, we highly recommend the peak performance buoyancy dive [which will significantly improve your buoyancy control and air consumption], and the night dive [because it's a lot of fun!].
Sairee Beach Accommodation | Koh Tao PADI Advanced Course
Your Advanced PADI Course includes 2 nights accommodation on Sairee Beach, Koh Tao*.
Simple Life's standard PADI Advanced course package [8,600 baht] includes two nights in one of our basic fan rooms with double bed and en-suite bathroom, near the dive shop.
The resort has a premier location on Koh Tao's Sairee Beach - everything you need is within close walking distance.
If you'd prefer to upgrade to more luxury accommodation [i.e. air conditioned, hot shower, tv and fridge etc], we have several options available at Simple Life Resort.

*Included basic fan room is based on a two person booking [i.e. double or twin room].
For single occupancy on the advanced Padi package, there is a small supplemental charge of 500 baht.
If money is a big issue we can find you cheaper accommodation with no additional charge, but to be honest it's worth paying those few hundred baht extra and being comfortable!
