Koh Tao PADI Divemaster Course Description

The first step on the PADI ladder to become a professional diver, and to start making your hobby into a living.

The Simple Life Koh Tao PADI Divemaster internship is a serious program conducted in a relaxed and social manner. Many backpackers use the course as a stop on their travels, so they can find work when they move on. Reason being the attractive course price, the high course quality, and of course the great atmosphere on Koh Tao island. Others come here to change their career with the aim to spend the rest of their lives in tropics.

The PADI Divemaster course gives you the opportunity to find work in the diving industry, guiding certified divers and organizing diving logistics, afford the opportunity to work in some of the world's most exotic destinations. Koh Tao PADI Divemaster Course Prerequisites

To enroll in the course you must

• Be at least 18 years old

• Hold the PADI Rescue Diver certification [or equivalent] and have current CPR / First Aid training

• Have 20 logged dives

PADI Divemaster course theory involves diving physics, physiology, decompression theory, equipment and other topics necessary for the dive professional. These topics will be taught in classroom session with plenty of time to study in advance.

The in-water skills and stamina exercises include making 4 swims [100m tired diver tow, 400m swim, 800m swim with mask, snorkel and fins and 15 minute tread water]. You need to hit certain times, but don't worry - you don't need to be an olympian! Basic fitness is sufficient! You'll also need to complete an underwater problem solving exercise plus demonstrate instructor quality rescue skills.

The practical component of the Koh Tao PADI Divemaster course is the best part. After the first bit of theory you can – well – go diving. As part of the Simple Life Diving Koh Tao Divemaster program we include an unlimited number of dives. During the course you will be working with our Divemasters, taking care of our fun divers and assisting our instructors and their students.

Besides all this there will be workshops in underwater navigation, night diving, deep diving and buoyancy. We will teach you the organizational side of running a dive shop – customer care, boat logistics, course scheduling etc. All things necessary to be employed as a Divemaster on Koh Tao or elsewhere.

Use of Simple Life's shop rental equipment is included in the PADI Divemaster course fee. But it is highly recommended that you buy your own, especially if you want to plan to seek paid work once you qualify as a Koh Tao PADI Divemaster. Simple Life Diving can offer scuba equipment packages at very attractive rates for our PADI Divemaster course trainees.
