Simple Life Koh Tao PADI Instructor TrainingThe PADI Instructor Development course is the most recognized diving instructor course in the world. If you want to make a living from diving in the tropics, this is for you. The Simple Life IDC is a 15-16 days program (in other places often only 8-9 days) - the extended course duration assures a relaxed and stress-free study environment, also for candidates who do not have English as their first language.
PADI Instructor Training StructureOur Koh Tao PADI Instructor training package includes 5 parts: • IDC Preparation [2-3 days]: Refreshing of scuba diving theory [from the PADI Divemaster course], and diving skills review in the pool [running through demonstration of skills from the PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water courses]. • Assistant Instructor Course [4 days] • Emergency First Response Instructor Course [1-2 days] • Open Water Scuba Instructor Courses [5 days] • Mock IE [2 days]: Candidates complete final exams and teaching presentations, so everyone is properly prepared and ready to excel in the real examination.
Then it is the Instructor Examination [IE], conducted over 2 days by external PADI examiners from PADI headquarters in Sydney or California. The IE is normally scheduled as follows • Day 1: [Morning] Introduction and assignments. Then diving theory and PADI standards exams. • Day 2: [Morning] Academic teaching presentations [Afternoon] Open Water teaching presentations • Day 3: [Morning] Confined water teaching presentation, then closing ceremony And then it customary to have a little party....!
Organization of Simple Life PADI Instructor trainingThe course starts everyday at 9.00 and goes on until 12.00. Then lunch (included in the course) and back in the pool or classroom until 16.30. All knowledge development is conducted in our air conditioned classroom and confined water in our resort pool. It is recommended to bring a laptop computer since most of PADI’s teaching materials come in digital versions. The paper versions of the manuals are quite heavy. The teaching materials are required by PADI and each candidate has to have a copy. Diving equipment can be borrowed from the shop. But if you want to work as a diving instructor it is important to have your own gear.
