Koh Tao Dive Internship Related
Simple Life Divers: Situated just a little way back from the sea, our PADI dive shop has direct access to the beach which is where we load all our dive gear and people onto a taxi boat to head out to our main dive boat each day.
Simple Life Resort: A little further back, near the main road is Simple Life Resort, with our swimming pool, bar and restaurant. We'll be heading up there on many occasions for shallow water training in the pool, and no doubt will enjoy the BBQ and cold beers at Simple Life restaurant from time to time.
Dive Internships Accommodation: The resort which we use for dive internships accommodation is only a few minutes walk from the dive school and is peaceful and pleasant. It's best to stay a little back from the beach, away from the noisy beach bars which go on till the early hours. The resort it safe and secure, and is used entirely by long term diving interns (such as yourself), plus Divemasters and PADI instructors working on Koh Tao.
Best Places to Eat on Koh Tao
Cruua Thai Food: Super cheap and tasty Thai food. Cruua Thai is a simple Thai restaurant where you can enjoy all the Thai classics with quick, friendly service. Pad Thais, Tom Yam Soup, spicy fried basil leaf dishes, coconut and lemon grass soups, Thai fried rice ..... mmm!
Farango: Good Italian restaurant at very reasonable prices (starting from about 150 baht). Farango serves good pizzas, pasta and salads using traditional ingredients for an authentic Italian taste.
Hippo: If you fancy a treat head to Hippo. Awesome imported steaks, racks or ribs, seafood and lots more. The portions are huge and the food is excellent - especially when you fancy a break from Thai food. Hippo restaurant has a nice ambient atmosphere and is well worth a visit.
Tik's Thai Food: Another super cheap and tasty Thai eatery serving spicy Thai classics. It's little more than a corridor with a few tables, but the great prices and food make Tik's a popular choice for Thai food in Sairee Beach.
Cafe Corner: Fresh coffee, croissants and cakes and delicious sandwiches - Cafe Corner is a cafe, bakery and deli-sandwich bar rolled into one, so you'll have no problems getting your fix of western style breakfasts or lunch.
Koh Tao Nightlife
Fizz Beach Lounge: Fizz is a nicely decorated bar down on the beach front. Giant bean-bags laid out on the decking are a great place to sit and enjoy a few cold beers at sunset. As evening turns into night, Fizz's resident DJs begin playing funky tunes which carry on late into the night.
Lotus Bar: Next door to Fizz is probably the most popular bar on the island. Lotus Bar is little more than a converted bungalow on the beach, but it really gets going. Quiet early evening, by about 11pm the place is rocking - fire dancers, music, buckets of alcohol and lots of people! No doubt you'll end up here on a few crazy nights out.
Choppers Bar and Grill: Aussie Style sports bar which shows all the latest international sporting events. English Premier league football, Aussie Rules, Cricket, Rugby - pretty much every major sporting event will be on in Choppers so you can keep up to date with the sport back home. Choppers also has regular live music including acoustic performances from local musicians.
Attractions, Shops & Non-Diving Activities
Sairee Beach: Sairee is the longest beach on Koh Tao. On the rare occasions when you're not out diving it's nice to spend some time relaxing down on the beach.
Muay Thai Boxing Stadium: Near our dive internships accommodation is Koh Tao's Thai boxing stadium. During the daytime you can take Thai boxing lessons with the Thai trainers and get in mean shape! And twice a month, the Thai boxing stadium hosts a fight night which is not to be missed. See what to do when you're not scuba diving in Koh Tao.
Monsoon Gym: And for the fitness freaks, there's a western style gym very close to the dive internships accommodation. 'Monsoon Gym' has some cardiovascular exercise machines and a lot of free weights for the muscle men out there!
DVD Shop: Rumor has it that in Thailand you can by the latest movies on DVD very cheaply Near the beach road 7-11 there's a small stall selling all the latest movie releases from about 80 baht per disc - perfect for a quiet night in.
