Dives 3 & 4 of a PADI Open Water course at Simple Life Divers, Koh Tao
This video shows the final two dives of a PADI Open Water course with Simple Life Divers. This is a typical morning out on the Simple Life dive boat. Swedish PADI instructor Emmy takes the group for dives at the Chumphon Pinnacles then White Rock, just a short boat ride from Koh Tao. During dive 4 you'll see the students practice their compass navigation and have a bit of fun underwater!
This is actually a short clip from a souvenir movie, produced for the divers by one of our videographers - they shot the footage in the morning, edited the movie during the afternoon and screened it that same evening for the divers. The movie is a bit grainy due to the export for the internet, but you get the idea.

Koh Tao Scuba Diving: Whale Shark
Now for a bit of marine life. One of the reasons many people try scuba diving is to explore the underwater world, checking out aquatic life. Thanks to the sheltered position of Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand, we're able to offer scuba diving internships all year round with a true 12 month diving season. And even better, Koh Tao enjoys the best scuba diving and marine life in the Gulf of Thailand.
Here's one of the biggest attractions - whale sharks, which are the biggest fish in the sea. Whale sharks are occasional visitors to Koh Tao's deeper pinnacle dive sites, usually ranging from 3 or 4 meters length, right up to mature whale sharks of 8 or 9M. Awesome!
Diving in Koh Tao, Thailand: Coral Reef Fish
Koh Tao island is surrounded by tropical coral reefs which are home to many thousands of species of marine life.

Deep Diving at Koh Tao's Chumphon Pinnacles: Sharks
At the Chumphon Pinnacles north-west of Koh Tao, you can scuba dive with impressive sharks. The bull sharks living around the pinnacle grow up to two or three meters in length, but don't worry - they feed on small fish and there's never been any problems with divers!
Gulf of Thailand Macroscopic Life
And it's not just big stuff that you can see here on Koh Tao during your scuba diving internship. We also have a massive range of macroscopic life including seahorses, pipefish, sea slugs and nudibranchs. Here's a clip of Koh Tao's macro life.
Scuba Diving Internships on 'Turtle Island'
In Thai, Koh Tao means 'Turtle Island', given this name due to the many hawksbill and green turtles around the island when the first visitors arrived. You can still see many turtles around Koh Tao, and there's a turtle conservation and breeding scheme in place to make sure the populations remain healthy.
Sunsets Beers on Sairee Beach, Koh Tao
Take a short stroll along the beach from the dive shop and you'll find lots of beach bars, perfect for enjoying a few apres-dive cold beers. Since Sairee Beach is west facing we're able to enjoy spectacular sunsets each evening. Here's a quick look at the beach near Simple Life during sunset.
Nightlife on Koh Tao: Fireshow at Lotus Bar, Sairee Beach
No doubt one more than one occasion during your scuba internship you'll head down to the beach to enjoy a few drinks and Koh Tao's lively nightlife. Very close to Simple Life Divers is one of the most popular bars on the island - Lotus Bar. Cheap drinks, lots of people, music and awesome fireshows - here's a short clip of one of the firedancers.

Not sure who produced this video (presumably someone a bit older who stayed away from Lotus Bar), however it gives a good idea of what the island is like. Beautiful beaches, turquoise ocean, great cuisine, fantastic!
Back of a Motorbike Tour of Sairee Village, Koh Tao
Here's something a bit different! A short youtube video which takes us on a short tour of Sairee Beach on the back of a motorbike. The Japanese guy that made the movie added some nice annotations. You get to see the main road, drive through Sairee Village where Simple Life Divers is located, then back along the smaller beach road.
