Our 4 day PADI Tec 45 course includes
The PADI Tec45 course is designed for a diver with an entry level technical diver certification. You will be further developing your knowledge and dive skills to make accelerated decompression using Enriched Air or Oxygen. The course builds of skills previously leant in the PADI Tec40 course whilst educating the diver regarding the risk and proper use of accelerated decompression. The course is designed to prepare you with the required knowledge for the PADI Tec 50 course.
Why not take a look at what’s involved in the training?
You will meet your instructor and review all the necessary paperwork. Self study assignments will be reviewed and you will begin with a recap of standard technical dive practice. Note that this first day is designed as somewhat of a refresher for those technical divers who may have completed their training some time ago, as well as a pre-assessment that the candidate has the necessary knowledge, skill and attitude to undergo further training. After the class you will enter into shallow water to review the basic technical diving motor skills.
The academic material on this day focuses on gas planning. Use of rich Nitrox mixtures of over 50% to pure Oxygen, the hazards and the benefits of accelerated decompression is covered. By the end of this session you should be able to pick the best decompression gas based on your dive profile. You will be able to calculate your oxygen exposure from a dive as to reduce our risk of oxygen toxicity; following through the dive plan of ‘a Good Divers Main Objective Is To Live’ (Gas, Decompression, Mission, Oxygen toxicity, Inert gas narcoses, Thermal exposure and Logistics).
Two training dives will be conducted in the afternoon. Time to improve your dive ability, the NOTOX gas switch needs to be done precisely, as you are training towards pure Oxygen use. Gases shutdown drills along with emergency skills are also practiced; such as switching to your backup buoyancy control device after simulating a failure with the primary. One of my favorites is the no-mask long hose air sharing skill, sure reason to bring a backup mask along on a dive.
The Tec 45 diver Exam is to be completed in the morning 50 mostly multiple choice questions, with a required pass rate of 80%. After this has been reviewed you will plan your decompression dive for the afternoon. We usually conduct the final training dive at Chumphon Pinnacles, to search the depths for marine live and lost dive booty.
‘Make up day’; scheduled time if training was delayed at some time for whatever reason. If you have already finished the Tec45 course by this stage you are welcome to come along on the Simple Life Dive boat for an extra decompression dive, free of charge, for experience.
